Human resource management (HRM) is an essential part of every organisation as its limits are not only up to hiring and firing of staff but also includes planning, organizing, directing and controlling. These four major functions are the core of #HRM in which planning includes understanding the current figure of employees in organization and planning for the new workforce with specific qualifications and skills. Moreover, allotment of the task according to the competent staff is considered as organizing. Directing refers to provide direction to employees towards the organization goal. Verifying performance and rewarding it comes under controlling. Because of the various functions, the streams are further divided in HRM. Some of the titles under HRM are HR generalist, HR manager, HR director, chief HR officer (CHRO). (UpstartHR, n.d.)
HR generalist is the position that I will be heading to, as HR generalist is the person who primarily handles day-to-day operations (tasks) and administration work of the human resource department of the company. Plenty of reasons to go for HR generalist are that I already have good #communication and organizational skills. Competence in #leadership is one of the thing that I feel make me a good candidate for the position. Being very optimistic, maintaining harmony in the organization would not be a big deal for me as it is one of the prime duties of HR. Honestly, HR department is one of the major parts of the organization and that is the reason the HR will never go out of the fashion. In other words it is a job with stability. To sum up, HR generalist is the desired job position which provides handsome salary, job stability, job satisfaction and the interaction with new people every day is plus. (thebalancecareers, 2019).
Preparation
Human resource management is the career path for which I have been preparing myself from last four years. From the very first knowledge of the human resource course given to me in my secondary education, learning it has become more and more interesting to me. Managing people in an organization or company has fascinated me so much that I’ve begun to think this as my career goal. There are other reasons to work in human resources, it has a great opportunity for professional growth and career advancement and plus that I have required skills make me more confident about my career choice. After graduation I am totally set to pursue my goal, as I have already prepared myself for it from my first 2 semesters of business program in #Lambton College and the part-time customer service job in #BPO in Toronto for almost a year now.
Experience
Job as customer service representative was actually one of the first step I have taken to get not only the professional exposure but to grab some experience in customer service field which is definitely something going to help set my foot in HR careers. HR is the department who recruits almost each and every individual in top section of hierarchy as well and experience of good interaction with customers will make it easier for me to distinguish within the competent candidates.
Further Planning
I am planning ahead to pursue a post-degree certification in Human Resource Management which is further going to assist me in acquiring the skills I am lacking from. The advantage of adding this certification into my academic profile is that it will help me build my resume stronger or in other words it will open the several employment doors for the desired success.
